Actor and singer recovering in hospital as police investigate aggravated robbery attempt in Guri

South Korean actress and K-pop singer Nana is recovering in hospital after confronting an armed intruder who entered her home in Guri early Saturday morning. According to police and local media, the suspect — a man in his 30s — entered the house with a weapon and threatened Nana and her mother. Despite the risk, both women resisted and successfully restrained the man until police arrived.

Officers confirmed that Nana sustained injuries during the altercation but remained conscious and alert enough to help subdue the suspect. Authorities arrested the intruder at the scene, and a full investigation is now under way.

Physical Struggle and Medical Treatment

Nana’s agency later revealed that the 34-year-old artist and her mother both suffered injuries during the confrontation. Yonhap news agency reported that her mother briefly lost consciousness and was transported to the hospital for treatment. Doctors have advised both women to rest and undergo medical care.

Police said the intruder’s primary goal appeared to be theft, noting that he demanded money and searched for valuables upon entering the residence. The suspect was also taken to hospital with minor injuries and remains in police custody.

Suspect Arrested for Aggravated Robbery

Police officials in Guri told AFP that the suspect is currently facing charges of aggravated robbery. Investigators are now looking into whether the incident was planned in advance and how he managed to enter the home. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage and collecting statements from both Nana and her mother to better understand what took place during the break-in.

Authorities have indicated that additional charges could be considered as evidence is collected. The case has prompted renewed discussion about security measures for public figures in the entertainment industry.

Agency Requests Privacy and Caution

In an official statement, Nana’s agency Sublime described the incident as a dangerous situation and confirmed that the intruder was armed. The agency said it is cooperating fully with authorities and will follow official announcements as the investigation proceeds. It also urged the public to avoid speculation and refrain from sharing unverified information that could cause further harm.

“The safety of the victims is the priority,” the agency noted, asking media outlets and online users to respect the family’s privacy.

Concerns About Safety of Celebrities

The incident has raised concerns about the safety of high-profile individuals in Korea’s entertainment sector. Police have suggested that security measures for celebrities may need to be reviewed, particularly in cases where their personal information or residence details may be vulnerable to online exposure.

Fan communities have also voiced concern, urging agencies to prioritize protective protocols for artists who may face heightened risks due to their visibility.

Nana’s Career and Public Profile

Nana, born Im Jin-ah, first entered the entertainment industry in 2009 as part of the girl group After School, later gaining widespread recognition through its sub-unit Orange Caramel. She eventually moved into acting and secured leading roles in the 2019 crime dramas Kill It and Justice. Most recently, she released her debut solo album in September, marking another step forward in her career across both music and television.

Her rising profile and continued public activity have contributed to widespread media coverage of the incident.

Public Response and Ongoing Investigation

Messages of support have poured in from fans and colleagues across South Korea and overseas, with many expressing concern for Nana’s recovery. Authorities have urged the public to allow investigators to proceed without speculation and emphasized that further information will be released once the facts are confirmed.

As the investigation progresses, police are expected to review both the suspect’s motives and potential improvements to residential security systems, particularly for individuals working in the entertainment industry.
